Note: JCLS(Japanese Canadian Legacies Society) is an organization dedicated to preserving the history of Japanese Canadians affected by wartime displacement and internment.

Japanese Canadian Monument will be unveiled in Victoria on October 3, with a nation‑wide livestream.

The Monument lists the names of 22,000 Japanese Canadians who experienced forced removal, displacement, or internment between 1942 and 1946, along with 3,000 children born during the internment and postwar restriction period up to March 31, 1949. In total, 25,000 names are engraved on the memorial wall.

Survivors: Individuals of Japanese ancestry who were uprooted, displaced, or interned between 1942 and 1946 under the War Measures Act, as well as children born to these families up to March 31, 1949.

Descendants: Children, grandchildren, and later generations of the Survivors.

EJCA invites EJCA members, survivors, their descendants in Northern Alberta, and special guests to join us for a Live Streaming of the JCLS Monument Opening Ceremony. The program will also include a video of the names on the wall. After the program, all attendees are welcome to enjoy a Celebration party with complimentary sushi and pastries, and will receive commemorative booklets about the Monument project.

If you know any Survivors or Descendants of the internment era, living in Northern Alberta, please invite them to this special gathering.

EJCA will honor all survivors attending the event with special gifts.

EJCA では、アルバータ州レッドディア市以北にお住いの生存者とそのご子孫、EJCA 会員、特別ゲストの皆さまをお招きして、JCLS 記念碑除幕式のライブ配信パーティを開催いたします。会はライブ配信で記念碑の映像とビクトリアでの除幕式を共有します。その後お祝いの会をご一緒し、記念碑プロジェクトに関する 冊子を参加者全員へお渡しします。

アルバータ州レッドディア市以北にお住まいの 生存者またはご子孫をご存じでしたら、ぜひこの特別な集いへお誘いください。 当日ご参加の生存者の皆さまには、記念品を贈呈いたします。
